The ship will need a number of sets of oars made from different types of wood and of different design. Very little is known about the actual design of the oars used in this ship, so part of the experimentation is to try different ideas and see what happens.
Description
We are very grateful to all contributors of the sponsorship scheme. All funds raised will go directly towards the construction of the replica Sutton Hoo Ship. Those who sponsor an Oar will receive a special package of experiences and memorabilia. All Oar Sponsors will:
- have their company logo or family photo displayed in the Longshed where the ship is being built and on the Ship’s Company website
- have their family or company name on the shaft of the oar
- receive a framed sponsors certificate and 2 limited edition pin badges
- be invited to all corporate sponsor celebrations
- have two free places on a half day practical workshop alongside the ship building
