The ship has 40 tholes, twenty aside, one for each rowing position. Each thole provides the rower with a pivot for their oar and is key to powering the ship. The size and shape of the thole have been determined from the photographs of the imprint found during the excavation.
Description
We are very grateful to all contributors of the sponsorship scheme. All funds raised will go directly towards the construction of the replica Sutton Hoo Ship. Please add all of your fixings to your basket and then make your way to the checkout. Once your order has been processed you will receive a receipt with your item number on it. All sponsors will then be mailed an ownership card and limited-edition sponsors pin badge. By sponsoring a part of the ship your email will be added to our newsletter mailing list so that we can keep you up to date with the project.
