In May the Ship’s Co. Directors and a number of volunteers travelled to Roskilde in Denmark to learn how to work with green oak and more about how to manage a shipbuild project and all of the activities that surround it.
The Vikings Museum is a living boat yard where 45 ships are kept on display for the public to both look at and sail in. Part of the attraction of the centre is the fact that boats are continuously being built and you can join in with several activities.
The reason for the Ship’s Company to visit was to learn more about what will be required to build the Sutton Hoo Ship, what tools will be required and how to build a ship whilst also entertaining visitors who want to take part and observe.
